Who am I?

who am I?

My favourite quote is:

"Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "Fuck me, that was BRILLIANT! "

How do you want to arrive? Can I help?

I have done many different things in my life and most recently I moved to the south of Spain to follow the impulse that I could create the life of my dreams here.  I live in a beautiful place where the mountains come down to the sea, the sun shines a lot and my lifestyle is as I choose. This did not come to me on a platter but rather I got clear on what I wanted and what the necessary action was to make it happen.  And I had to do it!  I know what it takes to create the dream and my personal experience can help you create yours.

How did I end up in Spain?  Well along a winding and sometimes surprising route!  After college - where my career advisor suggested I marry a millionaire because he simply didn’t know what else to suggest as I fitted none of the psychometric testing models - I started off in a bank.  Well I thought, at least I’d have the possibility of meeting a millionaire!  Eventually ended up in the corporate world and finally left after 14 years (you can’t say I haven’t got perseverance) when I realised that I simply didn’t want to work in something I no longer believed in.

I took a 180% turn and went to run a retreat site in Dorset where people would arrive, grey from their jobs in the city, and we’d put some colour back into their faces before they left to go back to the same old thing.  As I went along this path I took various courses that interested me; studying counselling and hypnotherapy, facilitation skills and presentation coaching, strategic management to name a few.  I was starting to get it that if I followed my lines of interest it would lead me somewhere interesting!

And it did – to India and an ashram and a whole new way to look at my life and the world.  I came back and started to look around for a new direction that would make me feel like I was making a difference in the world and ended up as a PA to the Chairman of an alternative technology agency – fascinating but not particularly lucrative!  I then spent four years in the USA at the global headquarters of the spiritual foundation of the ashram I had visited in India. It was there that I realised that what I loved more than anything was helping people get back in touch with who they truly are and create a life from that connection.

When I left the USA I had plans to go back to London and take whatever the next steps were towards working with people.  However before that I took a holiday in southern Spain.  It was then I did a Shirley Valentine (for those of you who don’t know the movie – google it, it’s worth it) and basically never went back to the UK.  I love Spain, the manana syndrome can drive me crazy but it sure teaches me patience and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It was in Spain I trained as a Coach (another story altogether – I’ll tell you when I speak with you) and have since trained as a Master NLP Practitioner and have gone on to help many people from all walks of life create the lives they want.

All my life experience infused with my spiritual understanding informs my work as a Life Coach. Fulfilment is the key to our happiness and that means different things to different people.
