No More Sabotaging Shortcuts
Welcome to February’s Connections newsletter. The theme this month is ‘no short cuts’, mainly because I have seen that the busier we get the quicker we want to get things done and that often means short cuts. I also want to remind you that we are offering The Passion Test Workshop in London and Spain in February, plus a couple of other offerings from friends of mine. And of course fun and inspirational stuff too.
I don’t now about you but life got very busy just after Christmas. Maybe it was because of the time out around the holidays but I felt that time has speeded up and it felt rather whirlwind-like. Many people I spoke with felt the same, some kind of shift happening, rather like the brakes being taken off.
And that is all great! However I also began to see in myself that I was wanting to short cut things to make up time and ‘get things done”. Yep, that old potato, the “get things done”. Now it is all well and good to get things done, but not if it is to the expense of other things like being really present in my work and getting impatient.
I also noticed that I was getting frustrated with the amount of time I needed to take on certain tasks on the computer. Important tasks that will pay dividends in the future. I caught myself resenting the time it took away from my “work”. Whoa! And that’s the catch. What do you consider work and what is just ‘stuff to get done’?
Once I saw this I realised that it was the ‘stuff to get done’ that was suffering from the short cut syndrome. I wanted to get it over and done with quickly so I could get back to my ‘work”. Problem was that in rushing something and trying to get away with the minimum I was actually sabotaging myself and my ‘work’ too.
I was talking with a client last week about how to manage time and that the ‘stuff to get done’ list never seems to diminish. This list can feel overwhelming and take us away from what seems important. However in some ways you think everything is important or it wouldn’t be on your list. So, as I said to my client, first review the list of things you are trying to shortcut. Do you need to do everything on it? Are the majority of them (and I say majority as some things just have to get done) in line with your passions? In other words are they taking you where you want to go?
If they are then don’t let yourself take short cuts. Instead do them fully now. Take the time now and save time in the future. How often have you taken a short cut only to have to redo it all over again later?
And if the things on your list are not in line with your passions and don’t fall in the ‘tough I’ve got to do it anyway’ category ask yourself, why am I doing this? What is the purpose? What outcome will I get?

Yes to Success
I met Debra Poneman when I was in San Diego last year at Discover Your Destiny weekend and she is a fantastic presenter, I can only image how great it is to be at one of her seminars. Well if you can get yourself to Los Angles on March 18-20th or Chicago on 29th April – 1st May then you are in for a treat.
From 1980 to 1988, Debra Poneman, through her Yes! to Success principles brought unimaginable success, happiness, and prosperity
to tens of thousands of people around the world. Some of today’s most renown thought leaders attended Yes! to Success not once but numerous times and said it changed their lives forever.
I first attended Debra's seminar over 25 years ago. I was completely blown away by her unique vision and the information she gave that showed step-by-step how each of us can manifest our biggest dreams -- and by her powerful presence and radiant spirit. I ended up attending the seminar so many times I stopped counting and each time I was mesmerized from beginning to end - and each time I gained new insights that powerfully impacted my life and helped me to create The Passion Test. What do you want to create?”
Janet Attwood, New York Times Bestselling Co-Author of The Passion Test
“On behalf of myself and my family I can’t thank you enough for coming all the way to Boston to give your Yes to Success course for us. As I told you after the first time I attended your seminar, I am ready to take my life and career in a new direction. Now it feels like we all, even the children, are clear about where we are going and how to get there. I will keep in touch and tell you of my progress. Thank you again Debra.”
Deepak Chopra, New York Times Bestselling Author and Founder of the Chopra Institute (from a letter to Debra in 1984)
In January, 2011 for the first time in 23 years, Debra again offered a weekend Yes to Success seminar and the transformations that occurred in the lives of people just like you were even more astounding!
I can honestly say that after attending "Yes To Success" the following things occurred in just over two weeks:
1) My business revenue doubled.
2) I gained more new clients this month than any other (monthly average).
3) My regular clients have increased their purchases of products and services.
4) I have not procrastinated at all even on clearing my clutter, writing and doing the things on my to-do list, and meditating daily.
5) The friendships and support I have gotten from my on-going team have already inspired new ideas and more belief in my ability to live my dreams.
6) I am so happy!!
