First snowdrops of the year

It has been a while since I sent out a newsletter, sorry if you’ve been wondering where it is - I’ve been busy behind the scenes to complete my new website and get everything up and running.  And now it is and I invite you to visit the new site and explore.  This month’s theme is based on snowdrops – here in Switzerland amongst the snow they are the first signs of growth in the harsh winter – what can that tell us in our lives?  And even with this new design for the newsletter there is always room for fun stuff!

I am in Switzerland right now and the snow is falling fast, it is pretty and wintery and cold and yet I noticed on my way home today the first snowdrops.  What hope, strength and resilience in that little white flower!  As the temperatures fall and snow sets in, there it is in its fragility and faith that even though it is against all odds that now is the right time to flower.

Faith and trust has been an element in most of the conversations I have been having with my clients recently.  Not as in blind faith but more as in a quiet heartfelt knowing that what they are doing is the right way forward for them and they just have to ‘hold the faith’ and keep on moving.

It has been a turbulent time for many, a time of questioning – am I on the right path?  In chapter five of my new book The Right T-Shirt I talk about how your heart knows best.  However if you are in a time when the snowstorm is going on around you then it can be hard not to start getting spooked by the ego’s fears.  The ego is the part of us that wants to control everything and have cast iron guarantees.  Problem is that when the ego runs the show is when we get stressed.  We try to second guess everything and that ensures that we are focused in the future and so we are not present to what is happening now.  It is only in the present that we can have any effect on our experience.

At some point - and I saying this to myself as much as to you - we have to drop inside and feel what is the right action for us right now.  We can gather all the information (use our mind) but it also has to feel right.  If we take an action out of fear or trying to control the situation then the energy behind that action is what will dictate the outcome.

I was speaking to a client who was  - in her words- desperate for a particular outcome.  As soon as she saw that her desperation was the one thing that was holding off success she could instead drop into back into trusting herself and feel what was the best way forward.  For her that actually meant dropping an idea, which gave her a huge feeling of relief.  She could then focus on something that felt right – which gave her a feeling of inspiration.  Back in that place of trusting herself she was far more motivated and that led to success.

So as the snow falls outside my window I know that this is just part of the flow of life and instead of wishing it the sun to come I am reminded to stop and enjoy the beauty of the moment.  The snowdrops remind us that the spring is on its way even though we cannot see it yet.  It only takes one small sign – like the snowdrop – to know that we are going in the right direction.  So instead of focusing on the snowstorm, focus on the snowdrop.  What’s your snowdrop?  And if aren’t sure and you want some help finding yours amongst the thick snow in your life then give me a call on +44 (0) 203 239 6155 or drop me a line and let’s have a chat.

News!

Some of you may have seen that I have a completely new website.  Not only a new design but also over the past nine months I have been creating some fabulous new free resources and online products.  So even if you have been signed up for a while it is worth while you taking a look around to see just what is there.  Not only can you get two free chapters from my new book but also a free MP3 about the 10 Mistakes to Avoid when you want o make some changes in your life.  And there is a new Feel Better Right Now! online video course with an ebook.  To access these resources you can simply sign up again (don’t worry you won’t get double the emails from me) and you will get instant access to the goodies.

It is also a great way to be able to pass on a recommendation.  I would love it if you can send the link to whomever you feel would benefit from these gifts, thanks.
