articles: The Law Of Attraction

Many people have been talking about the Law of Attraction recently in light of the movie The Secret and other DVD’s and books that have come out in the past year. The Law of Attraction states that what we think about we bring about; like attracts like. Coming from the standpoint that everything, including us, is energy in one form or another (and this viewpoint is according to Quantum Physicists) the Law of Attraction states that we draw towards us whatever we are in vibrational harmony with.

Think back to a time when you have met up with a friend and they are in a bad mood, or feeling depressed. Even if they say they are fine, you still know they aren’t because you can feel it. Their vibration is heavy and dense. We all have a personal vibrational level, sometimes light, sometimes heavy. It is this vibration that is our own creative energy and we can become aware of what we are creating by being aware of what we are feeling.

I had an experience many years ago, before I’d even heard about the Law of Attraction, when I wanted to move back to work in London. I had no idea what to do or where to start, but I got very clear on what I wanted. I wanted job in a company that had an element of giving back, an experience of working with like-minded people. By getting clear I thought about it everyday, I started to feel excited and focused how it would feel, and out of the blue I started to get inspired ideas as to what I could do to help the process along. All the while as I was going through the motions I just knew that I would find my dream job. And I did! With hindsight I can see that my pure, clear focus on what I wanted had a huge part to play in drawing it towards me.

Our vibration draws towards us an experience equal to our feelings. This is true of both the good and the bad stuff whether we are aware of the process or not as my experience above shows. The trick is to learn to do this consciously, direct our thoughts and feelings to create what we want. If we do this then we can be part of the creative process. If we don’t, it will simply happen by default anyway but with no conscious input from ourselves.

So how can the Law of Attraction help when we start thinking about changing career for example?

The Law of Attraction has three distinct stages. Firstly there is the stage of Asking. In others words getting really clear on what you want. If you get clarity on your desires it is much easier to send a clear energetic request. If you are confused or not sure exactly what you want, you send out mixed messages and hey presto, what you get back is mixed. I knew someone a while back who was constantly coming up with great new ideas. She’d talk animatedly about them for a week and then change and have a new idea and talk about that. Nothing ever happened in her life, nothing at all. I realised after a while that she never stayed on one idea long enough for it to manifest. Clarity is paramount and then so is patience. You need to give it time to come to you and in the meantime you need to keep the positive focus on what you want.

So, if you want to create a new career or a new job in a company with more opportunity, or set off on your own adventure of starting your own business, get really clear on what you want. Dot the i’s and cross the t’s. Inform yourself as much as you can about your intended move. Begin to get to the place where you can taste it!

This is where the second stage takes over. Once you are clear you need to deliberately create your future. How do you do this? See it, feel it, make it real your mind first. If you can see it and feel it in your mind you can have it in your hand. Each time you focus with a good feeling on what you wish for you send out a positive vibration about it. Not only that you also raise your personal vibration – you feel good. And that starts to draw towards you whatever it is you want. If it is a certain type of company you want to work for, then feel how good it will be to go in each morning to work. If you long for the autonomy of your own business then feel how good that will be. As you focus on the 'what' and add the feeling of it you begin to draw it towards you in a powerful way. Make this a daily practise, spend ten minutes every day seeing and feeling your new creation, make it real in your mind.

Of course as you become aware of how you are feeling about what you want to create in your life you do need to add the self-effort into the equation. Take steps forward towards what you wish for, do any training that prepares you for the new career, become acquainted with all aspects of the new area, and talk to those already doing it, start the job search program. In other words do all the normal preparations, but add the element of attraction. As you do these practical things let them also work as magnets, through these actions allow yourself to feel the enthusiasm and excitement of the new career that is moving towards you.

As you might have seen, there is a theme that runs through using the Law of Attraction – feel good. Once you become clear about what you want your paramount task is to feel good. To help you have a very efficient emotional guidance system. If you are thinking negative thoughts (and creating negative experiences) you feel bad. If you are thinking positive thoughts you feel good. To consciously use the Law of Attraction in your life you must focus more on the good thoughts than the bad. So the third stage is to be aware of what you are feeling. If you catch yourself feeling bad, focusing on the lack of what you want, then make conscious effort to change that thought. You need to be in vibrational alignment with what you want, and your guidance system, your emotions, will tell you when you are not. It takes commitment and discipline at first to make the thought change, but once you get into the habit you will feel the benefits. Not only will you be utilising the Law of Attraction to positive use but also you will also generally just feel better!

You simply have nothing to lose. Best-case scenario – you create the career of your dreams, worst-case scenario - there really isn’t one but if you insist - you become happier and your thoughts are more positive and you feel good. Not bad huh?
